Communications Programme
The main function of the GNBS Communications division
is to provide programme support for the technical departments and to educate
and sensitise stakeholders and the public on the Bureau’s role and function
in relation to standardisation, provide consumer advisories and publicise
information regarding GNBS activities and services.
The Communications division is responsible for:

Programme Support (arranging printing, placement of
advertisements etc.)

Media Relations (i.e. Issuing Press Releases,
Notices, Arranging Press Conferences, Media Briefings etc.)

The production of audio and visual material for
Television, Radio, Newspapers and specialized groups.

Coordinates the Bureau’s participation in trade shows
and other special events i.e. Competitions, GUYEXPO, World Food Day,
Career Fairs, Mashramani and National Quality Week Activities.

Publishing of articles, preparing the “Standards
News” a quarterly newsletter on highlighting the latest developments
and activities of the various programmes of the Bureau.

Coordinating the design, printing, publishing and
distribution of promotional materials. i.e. File folders, conversion
charts, flyers, factsheets, posters etc.

Consumer Education Activities in the form of media
programmes, fact sheets, flyers etc. Example, a small column, Standards
Advisory featuring consumer tips is published in the Guyana Chronicle
Newspapers every Wednesday and
Standards Corner, an article
featuring information on the GNBS programmes and activities and also
useful consumer tips is published every Wednesday in the Guyana Chronicle.
